WELCOME!

Bienvenidos a la Mision Chile Santiago Norte! We love the Savior, and are blessed to be part of this great work, to share His gospel, and invite others to come unto Him. We are grateful to have this incredible opportunity to associate with such fine young men and women and other couples who are serving in this wonderful part of the vineyard. We decided to share this mission through a blog, with any who would like to know more.... All of the lessons, talks, training, conferences, and meetings are obviously done totally in Spanish, but for the sake of this writer, the notes are here in English, for speed in typing, and therefore, mixed with a bit of both worlds. We hope all of our missionaries, families, and loved ones can enjoy this blog, in spite of the writing, grammar, language, errors, etc. This will be a miraculous journey, and we invite you to share and enjoy it with us.

Lovingly, con cariño,
Presidente Michael May

Atonement of Jesus Christ

The prophet Joseph Smith once declared that all things "which pertain to our religion are only appendages" to the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I have a testimony of the power of the Atonement in our lives. I also have a testimony that the Book of Mormon is our greatest tool to help ourselves, investigators, and members come unto Christ by gaining a greater understanding of what the Savior truly did for us. Elder Holland said, “With its declared title-page purpose of testifying that Jesus is the Christ, little wonder that the Book of Mormon was the first-and still the greatest-missionary tract of this dispensation.”

Here is just one of many scriptures in the Book of Mormon that teach us about the Atonement and how it can bless our lives:

Alma 7:11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.

Pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind means that there is nothing that we can experience that He has not already experienced and overcome. Does this not bring great comfort to all of us? Comfort in moments of disappointment when an investigator who is progressing wonderfully toward baptism suddenly tell us not to come back. Comfort when our physical bodies may be fatigued and exhausted after a long hard day in the hot sun. Comfort when the success we are diligently striving for does not come immediately. Is this comfort available to all of Heavenly Father´s children? We read in 2 Nephi 8:14,15:

11 Therefore, the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy and holiness shall be upon their heads; and they shall obtain gladness and joy; sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

12 I am he; yea, I am he that comforteth you…

I testify that this comfort is available to all of those who accept Christ as their Savior and Redeemer and exercise faith in Him and His Atonement unto repentance, baptism for the remission of sins, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. Our message in one of Salvation for all of Heavenly Father´s children:

6 Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy cMessiah; for he is full of grace and truth.

7 Behold, he offereth himself a sacrifice for sin, to answer the ends of the law, unto all those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit; and unto none else can the ends of the law be answered.

8 Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise.

9 Wherefore, he is the firstfruits unto God, inasmuch as he shall make intercession for all the children of men; and they that believe in him shall be saved.

(2 Nephi 2:6-9)

You are the greatest and we love you very much,
