WELCOME!

Bienvenidos a la Mision Chile Santiago Norte! We love the Savior, and are blessed to be part of this great work, to share His gospel, and invite others to come unto Him. We are grateful to have this incredible opportunity to associate with such fine young men and women and other couples who are serving in this wonderful part of the vineyard. We decided to share this mission through a blog, with any who would like to know more.... All of the lessons, talks, training, conferences, and meetings are obviously done totally in Spanish, but for the sake of this writer, the notes are here in English, for speed in typing, and therefore, mixed with a bit of both worlds. We hope all of our missionaries, families, and loved ones can enjoy this blog, in spite of the writing, grammar, language, errors, etc. This will be a miraculous journey, and we invite you to share and enjoy it with us.

Lovingly, con cariño,
Presidente Michael May

Official Message/Notice of Updated information regarding Missionaries:
English y Espanol

Dear Parents of the CSN Mission,

Since the incredible earthquake we experienced in Santiago, Chile yesterday, we finally have a stable internet for now, so we will attempt a massive advisory to all of you, regarding your sons and daughters who are serving as missionaries here:
• ALL of the missionaries in our mission are accounted for, safe, and healthy.
• Monday, Mar 1st will be a normal Preparation day for them. They will attempt to send each of you an email updating you on their personal status and situations.
• Please note that some are still without electricity and may not have internet access yet. If you do not receive a message tomorrow, please do not worry and be patient, as they will continue attempting until they send you a message.
• Please feel free to visit our mission blog, and we will try to keep it updated and current.

We are doing our best to tend to the needs of ALL of our missionaries. We love each one of them and are grateful their safety and positive attitudes amid such uncertainty and inconveniences. They are powerful and strong spirits, with desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to all in Chile, more now, than ever before. Please continue to pray for all of the fine people in Chile.

Lovingly,
President and Sister Michael May

  1. Dear Pres. and Sis. May,
Thank you for your updates. I know how incredibly busy you must be right now, besides the fact that you don't have access to the mission office.
We were surprisingly calm yesterday watching CNN. We knew Joseph was in good hands--both yours and the Lord's. If he had to be in a disaster, I'm glad he was where he was.
We were also glad to hear that your son is OK. Besides the 170 in your stewardship, I'm sure your thoughts were turned toward your son in Concepcion.
Your email yesterday mentioned how positive and optimistic the missionaries were. Isn't that amazing how the gospel can make you happy, even under adverse conditions? You gotta' love those missionaries!
Thank you for all you do and for taking the time to update us all.

  2. Hello Mike and Carol.

The recent earthquake prompts me to contact you after all this time. I had heard about your call to Chile too late to answer your phone message, and have now let much time pass without saying hello and to congratulate you on your service. Mark Andrus was here recently and we spent a few days reviewing our time in Bolivia together. I am glad to see you are well after this terrible event. I am also gratified to see your consumption of fine foods like hotdogs continues without restraint.

I am very proud of you both

  3. Pres. & Sis. May, It caused GREAT excitement w/our family in Oceanside CA to hear all is well in God's kingdom in SCN mission. Thank you so much for the update. We appreciate all your service and love, and thank you on behalf of our son, Elder Tialavea. We are so grateful to you for posting the pictures. It was absolute joy to see our son in Chile, and also our friends, Elders Kaka & Molifua! How marvelous to span the distance through technology. Our Heavenly Father is kind and mercifull. He knows us by name and recognizes our needs. Our prayers are w/all of you. We expect our son to appreciate this exceptional opportunity to serve his fellow man. What a great lesson in love and priorities. May the Lord watch over you all, Dios guarde a los Chilenos. Love from the Tialavea Family

  5. Pres. & Sis. May, Our hearts swell w/compassion for you two hearing your son is in Concepcion! As w/the rest of us parents, we must trust in the Lord's kindness and practice faith and patience. Easy to say but indeed, a lesson to do. Our thoughts and prayers of energy, hope and optimism are w/your family and all the missionaries in CSNM. All the news we hear from different sources is positive and optimistic. Thank you for your love and care of our sons and daughters. We appreciate your service in the kingdom.
We so look forward to the updates and especially the pictures! We are concerned but at peace knowing our elder is in wonderful hands. What a marvelous opportunity to serve one's fellow man. These young adults will remember this event all their lives. We have another son who was supposed to depart for Santiago, West mission today, (Mon. 2nd), but was delayed of course, because of the airport restrictions. We think HE got the worst of it, as he's chomping at the bit to leave and serve the great people of Santiago!! He's actually envious of his brother being there to help those in need. Perspective is everything. The Lord's people have a unique vantage point. They love others more than self. We love our Heavenly Father and hope all is well w/you. Dios guardea los Chilenos, Love from the Tialavea family in Oceanside, CA

  7. Pdnte y Her. May, Thank you for all you do in building up the kingdom of Zion. We, here in Oceanside CA, had a terramoto of our own! It pales completely in comparison to your experiences in Santiago and vicinity, however. We feel it was the Lord gently nudging us into yet an even greater urgency of action. Our paltry 7.2 tumbler did garner much attention around these parts. Our spirits felt a pouring out of love toward our fellow saints in Chile. We were reminded of all the hardships still being experienced from your quake along with the after shocks. Our love and prayers are still with you and all your charges. We are reminded that the Lord gives no commandment to the children of men save He shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which He had commanded them. We hope you had a spiritually filled Easter and that you were able to enjoy the words of our prophet and leaders. Our sons expressed great refreshment at listening to the General Authorities. Their only complaint was that is was over to quickly!!! What a change from a short few years ago. Miracles do happen in modern days, haa! Guarde la fe en Chile. Love from the Tialavea Family in Oceanside, CA
