We are so happy to report the best news yet….Yes, we have heard from our dear Elders on the Isla Juan Fernandez and they are both fine. At 10:00pm this evening, Pdte May finally rec’d an email from these missionaries who were apparently the last missionaries in all of Chile who had not be completely accounted for, until now.
We can’t quite describe the joy and gratitude we feel to now have ALL of our missionaries in the whole Chile Santiago North Mission, safe, healthy and accounted for in their appropriate sectors. Here is the email President May rec’d from the Island:
“HOLA PRESIDENTE Y FAMILIAS, ESTAMOS VIVOS Y SIN LESIONES, NO SE PREOCUPENE STAMOS BIEN. ESTAMOS ALOJANDONOS EN UNA CASA QUE ESTA ALTO EN LA MONTAÑA ASI QUE NO CORREMOS RIESGO, LA ISLA ESTA BASTANTE AFECTADA Y ESTAMOS SIRVIENDO Y TRABAJANDO, BUSCANDO GENTE QUE ESTA PERDIDA. TENEMOS AGUA Y COMIDA ASI QUE NO SE PREOCUPEN, ESTAMOS AYUDANDO ACA Y TRATANDO CUMPLIR CON NUESTRO DEBER.
LES AMAMOS MUCHO
ELDER MITCHELL y ELDER MARIN
Hello President and families, We are alive and without injuries. Don’t worry, we are fine. We are staying in a house that is up high on the mountain and we don’t run a risk. The Island is quite affected and we are serving and working; looking for lost people. We have water and food, so don’t worry. We are helping here and trying to accomplish our duty.
We love you much,
Elder Mitchell and Elder Marin
When we finally heard this marvelous word, we felt the Lord’s hand again, and then the words that He taught us also, in way of a parable. Paraphrasing, Luke 15:3-7, talks about a Shepherd who had at least 100 sheep, and lost one. (Like missing our 2 Elders). He would leave the others in the wilderness and go after the one he couldn’t find yet. Then the words came so clearly to my mind as this email arrived tonight. “And when he hath found it (These two great missionaries have been found, healthy and happy!) he rejoicing…calleth together his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep/ Missionary Elders, which were lost.” Also, even though these excellent missionaries are nothing like the prodigal son in any respect of being lost like he was, we also felt like the loving father who was overjoyed upon finding his son again, “It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad; for this thy (two missionary Elders) were ‘lost/missing” and are both alive and fine, and they were lost, and now are found.”
We feel to exclaim like Ammon, “Our joy is full, yeah our heart is brim with joy, and we rejoice in our God.” (Alma 26:11) We know these miracles come from God and His Son.
Presidente y Hermana May
WELCOME!
Bienvenidos a la Mision Chile Santiago Norte! We love the Savior, and are blessed to be part of this great work, to share His gospel, and invite others to come unto Him. We are grateful to have this incredible opportunity to associate with such fine young men and women and other couples who are serving in this wonderful part of the vineyard. We decided to share this mission through a blog, with any who would like to know more.... All of the lessons, talks, training, conferences, and meetings are obviously done totally in Spanish, but for the sake of this writer, the notes are here in English, for speed in typing, and therefore, mixed with a bit of both worlds. We hope all of our missionaries, families, and loved ones can enjoy this blog, in spite of the writing, grammar, language, errors, etc. This will be a miraculous journey, and we invite you to share and enjoy it with us.
Lovingly, con cariño,
Presidente Michael May

We are so grateful for your website and taking time to keep it updated with pictures and especially news. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS. And we are relieved that Elder Marin and his companion are safe. He feels like part of our family after being Elder Simmons companion and it was like missing a son. Your story above says it all. God bless you in serving the people that need your help even more. Brother and Sister Simmons
ReplyDeletePresident and Sister May,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for keeping us posted about our missionaries. And thank you for serving and loving and leading and caring for them all so well. Our prayers as a family are for you, our missionary, Hermana Adele Chapman, all the missionaries, members and people of Chile during this trying and difficult time. May the Lord bless and be with you.

I can not tell you how much we appreciate that you have this blog. I look at it every week and read what is happening with the mission. I feel so connected with my son because of it. I only wish that all missions did this. My daughter is soon to leave for her mission and they don't have a blog. So thank you so much. I know that it is time consuming, but know that we love it. Thank you for loving our kids and taking such good care of them for us.
